Job summary

Matchtech in Bristol is seeking a Highway Design Engineer to join our highways team in Yate. Hybrid working arrangement, salary £45,000–£55,000 plus bonus and benefits, and a permanent, full-time role. You will deliver varied highway projects and mentor junior engineers.

You will use Autodesk Civil 3D, engage with clients and authorities, and ensure designs meet UK standards and programme targets. The role suits a technically strong designer who can own projects and drive design development

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years' UK experience within highway design.
• Strong consultancy background preferred.
• Proven experience delivering highway design projects.
• Proficient in Autodesk Civil 3D (essential).
• Good understanding of UK highway design standards and approvals processes.
• Ability to work independently while supporting and developing junior team members.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Highway drainage design experience advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver a variety of highway infrastructure projects.
• Produce detailed highway designs using Autodesk Civil 3D.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers.
• Liaise with clients, local authorities, contractors and other project stakeholders.

Highway Design Engineer / Senior Highway Design Engineer

Location: Yate, Bristol (Hybrid Working)

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Highway Design Engineer to join a growing, multidisciplinary consultancy based in Yate. Working within a well-established highways team, you will play a key role in the delivery of a wide range of highway infrastructure projects for public and private sector clients.

This position would suit a technically strong designer who enjoys taking ownership of projects, mentoring junior engineers, and working collaboratively within a dynamic consultancy environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deliver a variety of highway infrastructure projects.


• Produce detailed highway designs using Autodesk Civil 3D.


• Work on projects including:
  
  
  
  • Section 278 schemes
  
  
  • Highway improvement projects
  
  
  • Access and infrastructure schemes associated with development projects
  
  
  
  


• Lead and support junior engineers, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
