Job summary

Bovis is seeking a Senior Health & Safety Manager to embed strategic H&S thinking across complex construction and infrastructure projects in the Manchester area. You will partner with project leaders and executives to shape safe delivery outcomes and drive continual improvement across teams and systems.

You will influence business‑wide standards, risk controls and culture, supporting bids and stakeholder governance with senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Proven capability delivering health and safety in complex construction environments.
• Ability to influence health and safety at organisational level.
• Embed risk management strategy across diverse project portfolios.
• Cultural leadership, mentoring and continuous improvement expertise.
• Expertise in ISO 45001 systems and legislative interpretation.
• Excellent communication and negotiation at senior level.
• Audit and root cause analysis qualifications preferred.
• Subject matter expertise across high‑risk construction disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and integration of strategic H&S initiatives.
• Support bids and client engagement by demonstrating H&S capability.
• Provide subject matter expertise throughout the construction cycle.
• Coach senior stakeholders on system performance and obligations.
• Champion behavioural safety and wellbeing campaigns across projects.
• Influence risk management improvements and SHELT agendas.
• Represent the business in regulatory engagements, audits, and networks.
• Promote innovation and knowledge sharing across H&S community.
