Job Description

Job Introduction

What does it take to become a leading health and social care organisation in the UK? It takes people who can turn lives around every day – providing encouragement, delivering innovative services, and generally improving life for individuals with learning disabilities, those affected by drug or alcohol misuse, or mental health problems. But it’s not just our front-line teams that make a difference. So do our dedicated professionals who support our operational teams with vital work. And that’s where you can come in.

Turning Point is looking to enhance its Health, Safety, and Wellbeing agenda for the people we support and colleagues, embedding a positive learning and improvement culture. We are therefore excited to share that we are looking for candidates to help us take this forward as part of a new role as Senior Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager.

Main Responsibilities

  1. You will collaborate with our /Functional Heads and Board members, the People Team, and the Head of Wellbeing to identify current and emerging organisational strategic risk priorities related to Health, Safety & Wellbeing, making recommendations to mitigate risks and ensuring strategies and plans are developed and implemented.
  2. You will work with colleagues to enable a proactive, meaningful, and effective Health, Safety, and Wellbeing culture, including behaviours, through inspiring leadership, engagement, and influence.
  3. You will drive the use of technology to enhance reporting, monitor and analyse internal and external insights, legislative changes, and identify trends, risks, and opportunities for continuous improvement, providing recommendations to Senior Managers and Board members to inform business planning.
  4. The role includes team management, developing and maintaining an effective network of health and safety representatives, policies, procedures, risk management controls, mitigations, and assurance to deliver the strategy and organizational priorities.
  5. This role will require travel to our services and our Manchester/London offices.

  • Significant experience in a senior leadership health and safety role, advising and influencing senior managers and Board members at a strategic level.
  • A relevant degree or professional qualification such as NEBOSH is essential.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing impactful health, safety, and wellbeing strategies and interventions.
  • Experience leading a team to deliver strategic priorities, with a background in health and social care or a related sector.

  • Effective communication skills with strong leadership abilities to drive change.
  • Experience handling customer feedback and liaising with external experts is desirable.
