Job summary

Unknown is seeking a Senior Health & Safety Advisor to lead safety initiatives across UK sites in the construction and infrastructure sector. The role focuses on inspiring operational colleagues to apply best-in-class H&S practices, deliver site inspections, and support tender activities.

The candidate will bring exceptional communication skills and significant HSE advisory experience, with NEBOSH Construction certification or equivalent (HNC) and Tech IOSH membership, and will be knowledgeable

Qualifications

• Significant experience in a H&S advisory role with solid knowledge of current HSE legislation.
• NEBOSH Construction Certification or equivalent (e.g., HNC) and IOSH membership; progression toward Grad or equivalent.
• Utilities/Gas industry experience highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage and conduct site inspections
• Advise on and set operational safety objectives
• Assist investigations into accidents and incidents
• Contribute to tender and bid activities
• Assess external environments for safe working
• Identify gaps in H&S management systems and propose improvements
• Develop and implement new safety initiatives and share best practice

My client is a well-established, privately owned construction and infrastructure company in the UK. They provide a range of services, primarily focused on utilities (water, wastewater, energy, and telecoms), civil engineering, and traffic management.
They have a brand-new opportunity for a qualified Senior Health & Safety Advisor to join their team.

The Role
In this role you’ll get to use your excellent communications skills, to inspire and help your operational colleagues to execute their work, whilst consistently using “best in class” health and safety practices.
You will be encouraged to create communication strategies which resonate and inspire from in-person.

• Managing and executing site inspections
• Advising on and setting operational team safety objectives
• Supporting and undertaking investigations into accidents and incidents
• Contributing to new tenders and bids
• Assessing external environments for safe working
• Identifying any gaps in the H&S management system; recommending improvements
• Developing and implementing new initiatives or sharing best practice with colleagues
• Advising on and communicating new working practices in line with any new legislative requirements or best practice
• Actively encouraging Safety Observations and Hazard Reporting
