Job summary

Arcona Group Ltd is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join its construction-focused team across residential, commercial, infrastructure and industrial projects.

You will promote a positive safety culture, ensure compliance with UK health and safety legislation, deliver inductions, toolbox talks, RAMS and training, and support accreditation schemes such as ISO 45001, CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Certificate is essential.
• Experience in site inspections, audits, accident investigations, and compliance monitoring.
• Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive health and safety support across multiple construction projects and sites.
• Conduct site inspections, audits, and safety reviews to ensure compliance with legislation and company procedures.
• Assist in developing, reviewing and implementing RAMS and safe systems of work.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions with detailed reports and recommendations.
• Deliver health and safety inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions to site personnel and management teams.
• Support project teams in identifying hazards and implementing effective control measures.
• Ensure compliance with legislation including Health and Safety at Work Act and CDM Regulations.
• Monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance with safety standards.
• Maintain accurate health and safety records and documentation.
• Promote continuous improvement and a positive safety culture across the business.
• Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders as required.
• Support accreditation processes such as ISO 45001, CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor.

We are looking for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join a growing and successful Construction Business. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a dynamic team supporting a wide range of construction, infrastructure, residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

Working closely with operational teams, project managers, and clients, you will play a key role in promoting a positive health and safety culture, ensuring compliance with legislation, and helping deliver projects safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide proactive health and safety support across multiple construction projects and operational sites.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety reviews to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and company procedures.
• Assist in the development, review, and implementation of Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), and safe systems of work.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, producing detailed reports and recommendations.
• Deliver health and safety inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions to site personnel and management teams.
• Support project teams in identifying hazards and implementing effective control measures.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation including the Health and Safety at Work Act, CDM Regulations, and other applicable regulations.
• Monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance with company health and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate health and safety records, reports, and documentation.
• Promote continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of a positive safety culture throughout the business.
• Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders on health and safety matters when required.
• Support the business in achieving and maintaining accreditations such as ISO 45001, CHAS, Constructionline, and SafeContractor.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a Health & Safety Advisor, Health & Safety Coordinator, or similar role within the construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, or industrial sectors.
• Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
• Experience carrying out site inspections, audits, accident investigations, and compliance monitoring.
• Ability to prepare and review Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and health and safety documentation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of an organisation.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Certificate essential.
• Membership of IOSH (Working Towards, Technical, or Certified Member level) desirable.
• Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel to sites as required.
• Experience working within residential, commercial, infrastructure, or civil engineering projects would be advantageous.
