Job summary

Principal People is seeking a Senior Health & Safety Advisor to lead on construction safety across the South West with a hybrid working model (home to site four days, one day at home). You will influence safety across multiple projects and report to the Head of Health & Safety.

The role requires strong communication, practical safety leadership, and NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate. A NEBOSH Diploma is desirable, plus a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate is required.
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent is desirable.
• Experience in construction, civil engineering, or related industries.
• Full UK driving licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Support site teams and subcontractors with compliance through regular engagement and building effective relationships.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote a positive safety culture.
• Write and review RAMS and SSOWs.
• Drive continuous improvement across projects.
• Deliver toolbox talks and lead safety initiatives.
• Carry out site inspections, audits, and accident investigations.

Are you an experience Health & Safety professional who knows how a construction site operates? Are you looking for more autonomy, flexibility, and the chance to influence construction projects across the South West?

We’re working with a well-established design & build contractor with a strong reputation in the industry and an exciting pipeline of work. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Senior Health and Safety Advisor to support the projects in the region and the wider business from a more technical perspective.

You’ll report into the Head of Health and Safety and work within a collaborative Health & Safety function collaboratively supporting and communicating with site teams building effective relationships.

This is a hybrid role travelling from home to site 4 days and working from home 1 day a week, offering flexibility while remaining close to operations.
