Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking an experienced Senior Project/Programme Manager to lead delivery of capital infrastructure projects and programmes across strategic lifecycles, from business case to post-occupancy.

You will manage multidisciplinary teams, coordinate with clients, designers and contractors, and ensure projects meet time, cost and quality targets while aligning with governance standards.

Qualifications

• Lead project or programme delivery across commissions of varying size and complexity.
• Senior-level experience in complex environments; healthcare, life-science or higher education exposure is advantageous.
• Experience presenting to project/programme boards with written and visual materials.
• Proven ability to deliver using common procurement methods and contract strategies (ideally NEC 3/4).
• Familiarity with NHS Capital Investment Manual and related industry standards.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and ability to translate technical information for non-technical audiences.
• Understanding of capital and procurement protocols and public sector healthcare project requirements.
• Excellent communication, facilitation and formal report-writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage activities and deliverables to ensure timely delivery of projects and programmes with client teams and contractors.
• Define and implement delivery structure, phasing and resources to realise ROI.
• Monitor finances, resources and progress within agreed tolerances.
• Identify, evaluate and mitigate risks, issues and dependencies.
• Lead and motivate delivery teams with clear roles and accountability.
• Produce regular delivery status and performance reports for senior decision-makers.
• Support governance and decision-making with SME input.
• Ensure successful delivery of health and life-science projects and programmes.
• Act as primary client and team contact for commissions.
• Adhere to structured project-management processes and procedures.
• Assist in developing high-performing specialist teams and monitor progress.
