Job summary

JAM in the United Kingdom seeks an engineer with hardware domain experience to join a defence-focused program. You will work on design proving, EMC and environmental aspects, resolve design issues, and build electrical hardware for shipboard integration.

Candidates should be comfortable operating in a large multi-project environment and hold an engineering or STEM degree; professional registration is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience in a hardware domain with engineering background.
• Knowledge of Commercially Available Off-The-Shelf hardware components.
• Professional registration is a plus and STEM qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Generate design, test and installation documentation.
• Design proving, including environmental and EMC aspects.
• Investigate and resolve design issues.
• Design and build the electrical and hardware system to achieve successful FAT(E).
• Provide support to development systems.
• Install and commission hardware on ships and ensure successful setting to work.
• Understand configuration control and baselines.

Job description

• Generation of design, test and installation documentation
• Design proving, including environmental and Electro Magnetic Compatibility aspects
• Investigation and resolution of design issues
• Design and build of the electrical and hardware system to achieve successful acceptance (FAT(E))
• Support to development systems
• Successful installation and setting to work of hardware on ship
• Understanding of Configuration Control and baselines

Your skills and experiences:

• An Engineer with experience in a hardware domain
• Knowledge and experience of equipment development using Commercially available Off-The-Shelf (COTS) hardware components, preferably with an understanding of blade and PC technology.
• A can-do, enthusiastic attitude and enquiring mind with a flexible approach & openness to involvement in all aspects of the team’s work
• Ability to operate in a large, complex multi-project environment
• Experience with COTS enclosures (e.g. units, cabinets), design, wiring schedules, power distribution etc. would be especially desirable.
• Experience working with the Defence sector
• Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects. Preference will be given to candidates who are professionally registered
