Job summary

GE Vernova in Stafford, United Kingdom, seeks a highly experienced Software Consulting Engineer to lead the architecture, design, and development of advanced software platforms for Transmission & Distribution systems, including configuration tools and grid automation workflows.

You will collaborate with embedded, power systems, and UI/UX teams, drive cloud-native deployments, integrate IEC 61850 and CIM standards, ensure cybersecurity and DevSecOps practices, and mentor engineers to deliver

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Extensive software engineering experience including leadership or software architecture roles.

Responsibilities

Define architecture and evolution of scalable, modular software platforms for T&D configuration systems.
Oversee cloud-native platform design using .NET, Java, Python, and TypeScript for desktop, edge, and cloud deployments.
Drive IEC 61850, SCL workflows, and integration into automated tooling ecosystems.
Ensure alignment between firmware, UI/UX, and power systems teams for coherent designs.
Promote secure development lifecycle, DevSecOps, and cybersecurity practices.
Drive component reuse and lifecycle management across product lines.
Lead engineering reviews and ensure standards compliance (IEC 61850, CIM, IEC 61968/70, IEC 62351).
Collaborate with customers and global teams to deliver robust, interoperable grid solutions.
