Job summary

GE Vernova's Grid Automation M&D team is seeking a Hardware Engineer to help develop advanced hardware solutions that monitor and optimize critical grid assets such as power transformers and circuit breakers.

You will work with SoCs, DSPs, FPGAs and 32-bit microprocessors across the full hardware lifecycle, from concept and prototyping through testing and production, in a collaborative, safety‑first environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering field.
• Experience in analog and digital design.
• Schematic capture using Altium or similar tools.
• PCB layout experience including fine pitch packages and BGA.
• Bare metal microcontroller/SoC bring-up with embedded C.
• Familiarity with lab tools (oscilloscopes, DAQs, etc.) and safe lab practices.
• Strong problem-solving and first principles thinking.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Ability to work in cross-functional, diverse teams, including travel.
• Safety-conscious mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop hardware systems for customers.
• Participate in cross-functional product development meetings.
• Conduct feasibility studies and trade-off analyses.
• Collaborate with software/firmware teams for hardware/software integration.
• Initial bring-up of PCBA, including bare-metal uP/SoC coding.
• Develop test plans and procedures to verify hardware.
• Perform thorough testing and debugging of hardware.
• Manage full hardware lifecycle from concept to production.
• Provide technical guidance to team members.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Document designs, tests, results, and processes.
• Collaborate with international teams and occasional travel.
• Apply GE Vernova safety principles.
• Carry out additional duties as requested.
