Job summary

Oliver Bernard is seeking an experienced Senior / Lead Golang Engineer to join a major global bank in London. You will design and deliver high-performance, cloud-native services using Go, Kubernetes and distributed systems in a hybrid environment.

You will lead technically complex projects, set engineering standards, mentor teams and contribute to AI-enabled platform initiatives within a highly regulated financial setting.

Qualifications

• Extensive professional experience with Go production systems.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture and distributed systems.
• Experience building highly scalable, resilient backend services.
• Excellent knowledge of concurrency, performance and systems design.
• Experience with modern CI/CD and engineering practices.
• Excellent communication and ability to influence technical decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of high-performance services using Golang.
• Own technically complex projects from architecture through production.
• Define engineering standards and patterns across Go services.
• Design highly available, scalable distributed systems.
• Shape technical strategy with architects and product teams.
• Mentor engineers and raise engineering standards.
• Build and operate cloud-native applications in a regulated financial environment.
• Contribute to Generative AI strategy and LLM-enabled services.
