Job summary

Referment is partnering with a UK fintech scale-up to build real-time credit data services and analytical APIs on AWS. The role focuses on foundational architectural ownership, leading a small team, and setting high standards for code quality and delivery.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial software engineering with Go and B2B API services.
• Proven experience scaling API services on AWS in production and regulated environments.
• Experience with AWS managed services (Fargate, Lambda, Aurora Postgres, DynamoDB, SageMaker, Bedrock).
• Strong CI/CD practices (GitHub Actions) and containers.
• Mentoring engineers and leading code reviews.
• Architectural judgement and ability to evolve systems without big rewrites.
• Fluent use of AI tooling to aid engineering judgement.

Responsibilities

• Design and lead architecture of high-performance Go microservices on AWS.
• Mentor mid-level engineers and lead code reviews.
• Drive technical delivery, ensuring quality, maintainability and security.
• Influence hiring, strategy and roadmaps; contribute to engineering culture.
• Balance abstractions with simplicity and evolution without rewrites.
