Senior / Principal Geotechnical Engineer – Ground Engineering
Bristol/Somerset | Predominantly Site-Based with some Hybrid | Travel & Working Away From Home Required | up to £70,000 + Package

I'm working with a major construction and infrastructure business looking to appoint a Senior or Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join its growing Ground Engineering team.
This is a hands‑on leadership role where you'll take responsibility for the safe and technically excellent delivery of geotechnical works, while developing project teams and building strong relationships with clients and the supply chain.
The Role:
- Lead and supervise the safe and efficient delivery of geotechnical works
- Manage and coordinate project teams to ensure works are delivered to a high technical standard
- Monitor project progress and maintain clear communication with the wider Geotechnical team
- Supervise, mentor, and develop engineers and project team members
- Build strong working relationships with clients, supply chain partners, and third parties
- Maintain high standards of health, safety, environmental performance, and quality on site
- Implement and maintain safe systems of work across geotechnical operations
- Monitor project costs and report commercial changes internally and to clients
- Communicate project and business objectives to the wider workforce
- Help drive engagement, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the project team
What You'll Need:
- Proven experience delivering geotechnical works within a construction, infrastructure, or engineering environment
- Experience managing and supervising project teams
- Strong technical understanding of geotechnical engineering and site delivery
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management abilities
- Ability to work predominantly on site and travel or stay away from home as project requirements dictate
