Job summary

Skilled Careers is partnering with a globally recognised engineering consultancy to appoint a Geotechnical Engineer in their London team. You will contribute to the design and delivery of geotechnical solutions on infrastructure, buildings, and complex development projects, working with multidisciplinary teams.

Role involves geotechnical analysis, site investigations, reporting, earthworks, deep excavations, and coordination with clients and regulators. Hybrid/flexible working is offered.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• Chartered status with ICE/IStructE or equivalent is preferred and encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking geotechnical analysis and design (foundations, slopes, retaining structures).
• Supporting and managing site investigations and ground assessments.
• Producing technical reports, calculations, and design documentation.
• Working on earthworks, deep excavations, and ground improvement solutions.
• Collaborating with structural, civil, and infrastructure teams.
• Liaising with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.

We are partnering with a globally recognised, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy known for delivering innovative and technically excellent solutions across infrastructure, buildings, and complex development projects.

With a strong and growing presence in the UK, this organisation collaborates with developers, architects, and contractors across the full project lifecycle—from concept through to construction and delivery.

Their geotechnical team plays a critical role in major infrastructure and building projects, delivering expertise in ground engineering, soil-structure interaction, and foundation design across diverse and challenging environments.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join their London team.

The Role

You will contribute to the design and delivery of geotechnical solutions on a wide range of projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams.

• Undertaking geotechnical analysis and design (foundations, slopes, retaining structures)
• Supporting and managing site investigations and ground assessments
• Producing technical reports, calculations, and design documentation
• Working on earthworks, deep excavations, and ground improvement solutions
• Collaborating with structural, civil, and infrastructure teams
• Liaising with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies

About You

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field
• Experience in geotechnical design within a consultancy environment
• Working toward or achieved Chartered status (ICE/IStructE or equivalent)
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics and ground behaviour
• Familiarity with geotechnical software (e.g. PLAXIS, GeoStudio, or similar)
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
