Job summary

Steer is seeking a Senior Consultant / Consultant to join its Geospatial and Data Analytics team in the UK. The role focuses on delivering geospatial analysis, creating maps and dashboards, and translating complex data into actionable insights for transport and infrastructure projects.

We expect 2–5 years' experience, proficiency with ArcGIS or QGIS, and strong communication skills to present findings to diverse audiences. The position offers a competitive salary and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Around 2–5 years' experience in a geospatial, GIS or data analytics role.
• Experience using ArcGIS (Desktop/Pro/Online) or QGIS.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with spatial and non-spatial datasets.
• The ability to communicate technical findings clearly to non-technical audiences.
• Experience producing high-quality maps and visualisations.
• A proactive approach and willingness to learn new tools and techniques and be able to teach others.

Responsibilities

• Deliver geospatial analysis using GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online or QGIS.
• Analyse and interpret transport, demographic and spatial datasets to generate meaningful insight.
• Develop maps, dashboards and interactive visualisations that help clients understand complex information.
• Support the design and delivery of digital tools and web mapping applications.
• Work collaboratively with transport planners, economists, engineers and data specialists across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Help improve the efficiency of our analytical workflows through automation and innovative ways of working.
• Present findings clearly through reports, presentations and client workshops.
• Build relationships with clients and contribute to business development opportunities.
