Job summary

Foundational is seeking a Senior Geodesist to lead our geodesy work in London. You’ll ensure ranging data meets international standards and translate it into trusted products for scientists and operators. This is a future role; we’re building a shortlist now and will contact you when it opens.

You’ll contribute to reference frames, Earth orientation, and coordinate with ILRS, IAG and the geodetic community while guiding data scientists and engineers. Strong publishing track record is valued.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in space geodesy or related field.
• Deep knowledge of SLR and at least one other space-geodetic technique (GNSS, VLBI or DORIS).
• Experience with reference frames (ITRF), Earth orientation and IERS conventions; experience with geodetic analysis software such as GEODYN, Bernese or GipsyX.

Responsibilities

• Lead geodetic processing and analysis of our satellite laser ranging data.
• Contribute to reference frames and Earth orientation products.
• Define data quality standards, and validate our data against international analysis centres.
• Represent Foundational in the ILRS, IAG and wider geodetic community.
• Guide our data scientists and software engineers on models and algorithms.
• Publish and present at conferences.
