Job summary

Preply is scaling its GenAI Platform team to power production GenAI workloads and deliver a scalable, self-service platform for product teams. The Senior ML Platform Engineer will design and implement systems behind GenAI workloads, drive platform expansion, and collaborate with Applied Science, Data, Product, Security and Engineering teams.

This hands-on role offers broad technical influence, requires writing production code, shaping abstractions, and setting up safe, scalable production

Qualifications

• Proven track record (5+ years) designing, building and operating backend services or ML infrastructure handling production traffic.
• Strong Python skills and experience building developer-facing APIs/SDKs or shared libraries.
• Practical experience with GenAI systems, including vector retrieval, external provider APIs, and common issues.
• AI Expertise: hands-on use of Agentic AI, influence beyond code generation, architecture & security considerations.
• Sound knowledge of distributed systems, including high availability, concurrency, caching and rate limiting.
• Experience with at least one major public cloud (preferably AWS).
• Hands-on experience with distributed tracing, system telemetry, SLOs, and incident triage.
• Strong communication skills and English at C1 level, willingness to on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Architect unified gateway with automated routing, quota controls, and resilient fallback across model vendors.
• Drive system efficiency and low latency via dynamic traffic management, caching, and cost controls.
• Establish evaluation mechanisms to guarantee precision, stability and safety in model outputs.
• Deliver observability with tracing, telemetry, cost analytics, monitoring and alerts across GenAI lifecycles.
• Standardize prompt engineering workflows with automated versioning, testing, governance, and CI/CD integrations.
