We’re looking for an experienced and safety-driven senior gas engineer to take the lead in managing the safe and compliant flow of gas across our Yeovil site. In this high-impact role, you'll oversee complex network installations, develop and maintain our gas safety case, and ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations.

You’ll also lead and support a team of skilled gas personnel, setting the standard for technical excellence and operational integrity. Initially appointed as the Gas Responsible Person, you’ll progress to Gas Appointed Person within 12 months — shaping the future of gas safety on a nationally significant site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and ongoing maintenance of the LHUK Gas Safety Case in collaboration with the Gas Safety Manager and third parties, ensuring all requirements are met to a high standard.
  • Ensure all gas-related works comply with current regulations; produce risk assessments, method statements, and Gas Permits to Work; and drive the closure of corrective actions (CARs) within agreed timeframes.
  • Support timely delivery of statutory, mandatory, and reactive maintenance while planning and managing gas-related projects and remedial works to ensure compliance.
  • Assess, appoint, and monitor gas-skilled persons, reviewing their competence regularly and applying restrictions or suspensions when necessary.
  • Ensure subcontractors hold relevant certifications, including EUSR registration, network construction qualifications, and commercial gas credentials.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership across the contract, promote company values, and set the standard for safety, compliance, and performance.
What We’re Looking For
  • Gas Safety Qualifications: Holds (or is working towards) relevant gas safety certifications such as Gas Safety Manager; Commercial Gas qualifications essential; MOD Responsible Person (Gas) and SCO Modules 1–5 preferred.
  • Health & Safety Credentials: NEBOSH or IOSH certifications are highly desirable to support safe working practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Gas Systems Experience: Demonstrated experience maintaining and working on commercial gas systems and related equipment.
  • Safety Case Management: Proven experience leading or supporting gas safety case management or similar safety-critical roles in technical services.
  • H&S Compliance Expertise: Strong track record producing risk assessments, method statements, and managing safety documentation in line with current legislation.
  • Personnel Competence Oversight: Experience in assessing, appointing, and managing the competence of gas-skilled personnel, including performance review and development.
  • Project & Remedial Works Support: Ability to influence and support gas-related project planning, delivery, and completion of remedial actions across multiple workstreams.
  • Technical and Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of gas safety regulations, industry best practices, and familiarity with certification bodies such as EUSR and relevant gas registration schemes.
What We Offer
  • Mental health & wellbeing support
  • Employee Assistance Programme for personal, legal, and financial advice
  • 24/7 virtual GP & lifestyle rewards
  • Discounts for you & family
  • Financial tools & retirement plan
  • Cycle to Work & Paid Volunteering Day
