Job summary

St John & St Elizabeth Hospital in London is seeking a Senior Fundraising and Volunteer Executive to lead community fundraising and donor engagement on a 1-year fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.

The role focuses on developing strategies for community fundraising, school and community engagement, and donor stewardship across a range of campaigns and programmes to support the hospice and hospital services.

Qualifications

• Experience in charity or equivalent event role in corporate sector.
• Proven ability to deliver against targets and operational plans on time and within budget.
• Experience in administration, coordinating systems, schedules and databases.
• Proven ability to negotiate, manage and develop suppliers, participants and sponsors.
• Understanding of community fundraising motivations and mechanics.
• Experience in community/event fundraising.
• Experience of working within the hospice or healthcare sector.
• Experience of managing volunteers for various roles.

Responsibilities

• Community Fundraising Strategy: Work with the Head of Fundraising to devise and deliver a community fundraising strategy aligning with targets, supporting Light Up a Life, collection tins and mass participation events.
• Campaign Support: Provide logistical and strategic support for hospice-led campaigns to maximize fundraising.
• Engagement with Schools, Faith, and Community Groups: Develop strategies and fundraising products with the Head of Fundraising to engage schools, faith groups and community organisations.
• In Memory Fundraising Support: Develop and promote the In Memory giving programme, helping families and honour loved ones through donations and memorial events.
• Individual Giving Fundraising: Assist donor communications, stewardship, and materials to encourage regular giving and one-off donations.
• Legacy Fundraising: Promote leaving a gift in wills and manage legacy enquiries and related communications.
• Donor Stewardship: Ensure donors are thanked promptly and relationships maintained.
• General Fundraising Support: Assist with charity shop activities, mass mail-outs and other fundraising tasks.
• Weekend and Evening Work: Flexibility to work some weekends and evenings for events and campaigns.
