Job summary

Zühlke Group is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in London to join a high-performing engineering squad. You will own backend services in Kotlin or Java, contribute to API design, and deliver features with robust testing and scalable frontend interfaces.

You will work with React/TypeScript on the frontend and leverage cloud and container technologies to ship reliable software for complex, regulated environments.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience developing server-side applications with Kotlin or modern Java (Java 17+).
• Solid knowledge of the JVM ecosystem and backend practices.
• Experience designing, building and operating APIs.
• Understanding of reliability, maintainability, performance and security.
• Proven experience writing automated tests.
• Experience with relational databases.
• Frontend experience with React and TypeScript.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and production support.
• Agile, product-focused engineering teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate JVM-based services using Kotlin or modern Java.
• Design, implement and document APIs and integrations.
• Deliver end-to-end features connecting backend with responsive frontend interfaces.
• Apply test-first or test-informed approaches for robust test suites.
• Explore AI-assisted tooling to improve tests, docs and troubleshooting.
• Contribute to architecture discussions, code reviews and tech decisions.
• Improve deployment pipelines, observability and security in production.
