Job summary

Harnham is partnering with a high-growth international technology business to join the platform engineering team. You will own projects from design through to production, rebuild core services, and mentor colleagues while driving modernisation efforts across the platform.

Based in London, you will design, build and maintain backend services, APIs and web apps, work with microservices and event-driven architecture, and influence stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions for global customers.

THE ROLE:

Joining a growing platform engineering team, you will play a key role in rebuilding and enhancing core services that support customers globally. This is a hands-on senior engineering position where you'll own projects from design through to production while mentoring others and helping drive engineering best practice.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing, building and maintaining backend services, APIs and web applications.
• Owning features throughout their lifecycle
• Working across microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Collaborating with a wide range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Mentoring engineers
• Helping drive technical decisions and platform modernisation initiatives.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

You will bring strong capability in:

• Node.js and TypeScript development.
• React and Next.js.
• GraphQL and REST API development.
• Microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Kafka or similar messaging technologies.
• PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Redis.
• AWS, Docker and CI/CD practices.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders

THE BENEFITS:

You will receive a salary of up to £85,000 depending on experience.
