Job summary

Thales in the UK is seeking a firmware engineer to design, verify and deliver FPGA firmware for mission‑critical systems across defence and aerospace. You will work with VHDL/SystemVerilog, develop test benches, and collaborate with systems, software and hardware engineers to deliver complete electronics solutions.

The role requires a degree in Electronics or related discipline and proven experience in FPGA firmware design and verification, with strong communication and the ability to work

Qualifications

• A relevant degree in Electronics or related discipline.
• Demonstrable FPGA firmware design and verification experience.
• Strong FPGA design using VHDL or SystemVerilog.
• Experience verifying FPGA firmware with test benches and simulation tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently within a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Architect FPGA firmware designs promoting reuse and maintainability.
• Design FPGA firmware using VHDL or SystemVerilog.
• Verify FPGA firmware with test benches and simulations.
• Develop verification test benches and environments and methodologies.
• Collaborate with systems, software and hardware engineers to deliver complete electronic systems.
• Contribute to requirements definition, architecture, design, verification and validation.
• Improve firmware processes through documentation, scripting and automation.
