Ultra Intelligence & Communications in the UK defence sector is seeking a firmware engineer to define, design and test FPGA firmware within the Communications Systems unit. You will work across hardware and software to deliver FPGA modules for multiple programmes from concept to production.

You’ll ensure requirements traceability, participate in reviews, and support secure design practices while maintaining CI/testing integration and documentation.

Formación

• Degree in engineering, mathematical or science-based subject or equivalent experience.
• Experience of FPGA module design and implementation.
• Experience with FPGA tool chains for Xilinx, Lattice, Altera or Microsemi devices.
• Experience of FPGA firmware testing, test tools and design for test.
• Ability to read, interpret and understand hardware schematics.
• Experience of version control, change control and bug tracking tools and systems.

Responsabilidades

• Define, architect, design, develop, document and test FPGA firmware for multiple programmes.
• Perform requirements derivation from system to firmware level.
• Develop firmware modules and ensure adherence to standards and security policies.
• Produce firmware test specifications and verify modules and designs.
• Ensure test procedures are compatible with CI systems.
• Collaborate across software and hardware domains for integrations.
• Propose improvements to tools, processes and techniques.
• Contribute to meetings with customers through docs and presentations.
• Estimate time and effort for firmware activities to meet cost/schedule.
• Assist with project bids by providing effort/cost/risk estimates.
