Job summary

Avanti Recruitment Limited is helping a growing UK engineering business recruit a Senior FPGA Engineer to join the Southampton team. The role covers the full FPGA lifecycle, including design, verification, and integration for high-speed data and video/image processing systems.

The successful candidate will work closely with embedded software and electronics engineers, take ownership of technical work, and mentor junior staff in a defence/mission-critical environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum strong commercial FPGA experience
• Experience in defence, aerospace, radar or safety/mission-critical environments preferred
• Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance
• Role is hybrid and based in Southampton

Responsibilities

• Design and develop FPGA and SoC-based systems across the lifecycle
• Perform FPGA verification, testbench development and debugging
• Collaborate with embedded software and electronics teams
• Take designs through development, integration and test
• Mentor and support more junior engineers
• Contribute to technical decisions and system-level trade-offs
