Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced FPGA design engineer to design and verify FPGA code for high-speed motion capture and video camera hardware. You will work with electronics, mechanical and software teams to ensure timing closure and robust performance from concept through manufacture.

The role emphasizes VHDL/Verilog fidelity, testbench development, and manufacturability with DFx awareness. Collaboration, self-motivation, and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent with relevant industry experience.
• Strong VHDL/Verilog proficiency with timing closure and verification.
• Experience with interface standards such as LVDS, PCIe, GMII is advantageous.

Job description

• Design and verify FPGA code for hardware products including high-speed motion capture and video cameras, calibration devices, and synchronisation and networking equipment
• Ensure FPGA designs achieve required timing closure and functional performance before release
• Conduct code reviews of existing and new VHDL/Verilog files
• Work alongside electronic, mechanical, and software design engineers to create high-performing and cost-effective solutions
• Ensure designs have appropriate test coverage for development and manufacture and meet regulatory compliance
• Participate in the full product lifecycle from early conceptual studies through to post-release manufacturing support
• Report to the Lead Hardware Development Engineer
• Join the development team creating industry-leading hardware products

Requirements

• Strong demonstratable experience in VHDL including implementation of algorithms
• Verilog experience an advantage
• Experience in compilation timing closure is essential
• Working knowledge of interface standards such as LVDS, PCIE, GMII etc
• Skilled in testbench generation and verification on new design features
• Competent with Version Control System tools, like Git, SVN, etc
• Knowledge of high-speed digital design
• Working knowledge of analogue design
• Experience developing products for manufacture with an emphasis on DFM/DFT advantageous
• Educated to degree level in Electronic Engineering (or equivalent) with demonstrable and relevant industry experience
• Working knowledge of image sensors, optics, Ethernet and RF Design advantageous
• Experience using AI to augment your work advantageous
• Outgoing, confident and self-motivated candidate
