Job summary

Lynx Recruitment represents a global engineering company delivering advanced technologies, specializing in naval defence. They seek a VHDL specialist on a permanent basis to design, verify, and optimize FPGA firmware and embedded software.

The role covers full lifecycle from requirements to integration, with hybrid working (2 days per week in Bristol). You will collaborate on schematic capture and PCB design using Altium, and contribute to high-performance digital systems.

Qualifications

• Experience with VHDL/Verilog and FPGA toolchains.
• Strong understanding of digital electronics and embedded systems.
• Desirable exposure to MATLAB, C and Python.

My client is a global engineering company delivering advanced technologies that improve safety, sustainability, and operational efficiency. Specialising in naval defence.

They are looking for a VHDL specialist to join the team on a permanent basis.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and verify FPGA firmware using VHDL/Verilog
• Develop and optimize embedded code for high-performance systems
• Own the full lifecycle: requirements, architecture, coding, simulation, and integration
• Collaborate on schematic capture and PCB design using Altium

Requirements

• VHDL/Verilog and FPGA toolchains (Intel Quartus, AMD Vivado)
• Strong understanding of digital electronics and embedded systems
• Be versatile to provide input in other programming languages and simulation tools such as MATLAB, C and Python is desired but not essential
• Knowledge of communication protocols and real-time systems
• Contribute to the design and development of Analogue and Digital Electronic Circuits.
• Understanding of PCB design from Schematic capture to PCB layout
• Hybrid working (2 days per week in Bristol office)
• 37 hour weeks and half day Fridays
