Job summary

Line Up Aviation is seeking a Senior FPGA Engineer for a 6‑month contract based in Newport, UK. You will execute FPGA work packages within cost, time and quality constraints and report on progress.

You will work with VHDL, FPGA synthesis and simulation tools, define architectures, verify designs and integrate FPGAs onto target platforms, with security clearance required on application. This is Inside IR35 and paid up to £85 per hour via umbrella.

Qualifications

• Proficient in VHDL and at least one simulation tool.
• Proficient in at least one FPGA synthesis tool.
• Strong requirements capture and work package estimation skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; good team player.
• Extensive FPGA development process knowledge; able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Analyse requirements and document FPGA solution and work breakdown.
• Prepare FPGA architecture and detailed designs and documentation.
• FPGA design generation, implementation and verification.
• Integrate FPGAs onto the target platform and provide technical support.
• Lead and review work within the team; support process updates.

Job description

On behalf of our client, we are seeking to recruit an FPGA Design Engineer on an initial 6-month contract. As the Senior FPGA Engineer you will be responsible for executing allocated FPGA Work Packages within agreed cost, time and quality constraints.

• Role: Senior FPGA Engineer
• Pay: Up to £85 via Umbrella
• Location: Newport
• Contract: Monday-Friday, 37 Hours per week, 6 months Contract
• IR35 Status: Inside
• Security Clearance: Security Clearance required on application, UK Eyes only

Responsibilities

The Senior FPGA Engineer is responsible for demonstrating that the developed product meets all specified product and customer requirements, by:

• Analysing requirements, specifying and documenting the FPGA solution and work breakdown
• Preparing FPGA architectural and detailed designs and documentation
• FPGA design generation and implementation
• FPGA design verification
• Integration of FPGAs onto the target platform
• Providing FPGA technical support
• Controlling and reviewing work of the members of their team (where a team exists)
• Supporting the company FPGA development process and procedure updates

Essential Skills

• Must be proficient in the use of VHDL
• Must be proficient in the use of at least one simulation tool
• Must be proficient in the use of at least one FPGA synthesis tool
• Must have a good understanding of requirements capture, and of work package definition and estimation
• Must be highly self-motivated, articulate, with good verbal and written communications skills
• Must have good team working skills
• Must have excellent FPGA development process knowledge
• Must be an experienced engineer, fully versed in design methodologies for their field able to work on their own, but providing regular reporting
• Must have recent design experience of devices from the following suppliers:
  • Altera
  • Microsemi
  • Xilinx
