Job summary

ARM is seeking a Senior FPGA Engineer in Newport for a 6 month contract. You will work on defence/aerospace FPGA solutions, using VHDL and major vendor tools to design, simulate, verify, and integrate FPGA blocks onto target platforms. Active SC clearance desired.

Responsibilities include documenting requirements, architecture, and work packages while coordinating a small team and maintaining development processes. Relocation support not mentioned.

Qualifications

• Proficient in VHDL and FPGA design methods.
• Experience with one or more simulation tools and synthesis tools.
• Understanding of requirements capture and estimating work packages.
• Knowledge of FPGA development processes and design methodologies.
• Recent experience with devices from Altera, Microsemi, or Xilinx.

Responsibilities

• Analyse requirements and document FPGA solution and work breakdown.
• Prepare FPGA architectures and detailed designs and documentation.
• Generate and implement FPGA designs and perform verification.
• Integrate FPGAs onto target platform and provide technical support.
• Review work with team members and help update development processes.

Senior FPGA Engineer

6 month contract

Based in Newport

Offering up to £85ph Inside IR35

Do you have design experience with Altera, Microsemi, or Xilinx?

Do you have experience with VHDL?

Do you hold active SC clearance?

As the Senior FPGA Engineer, you will be working alongside a market-leading Defence and Aerospace company who are constantly growing and developing. You will be involved in:

• Analysing requirements, specifying and documenting the FPGA solution and work breakdown
• Preparing FPGA architectural and detailed designs and documentation
• FPGA design generation and implementation
• FPGA design verification
• Integration of FPGAs onto the target platform
• Providing FPGA technical support
• Controlling and reviewing the work of the members of the team
• Supporting the company FPGA development process and procedure updates

Your skillset & experience:

• Proficient in the use of VHDL
• Proficient in the use of at least one simulation tool
• Proficient in the use of at least one FPGA synthesis tool
• Understanding of requirements capture, and of work package definition and estimation
• FPGA development process knowledge
• Fully versed in design methodologies for your field
• Recent design experience of devices from the following suppliers:

• Altera
• Microsemi
• XilinxDesirable

• Recent experience of using several of the following tools/development environments:

• Altera Quartus II
• Mentor ModelSim
• MicroSemi Libero IDE
• Microsemi Libero SoC
