Job Overview:

We are looking for an FPGA / Embedded-Systems Engineer to join Arm's Solution Engineering FPGA Design team on a permanent basis. The team is based in Cambridge UK, working at the forefront of Arm-based embedded design.

The team delivers ASIC prototypes on FPGA platforms, supporting Arm's IP business model, based around Arm's leading CPU and system IP solutions. These platforms are used for software development and IP validation activities both internally by Arm and externally by partners/customers.

The role involves understanding incoming Arm IP RTL designs and making design changes to implement FPGA prototypes of these ASIC RTLs.

You will be part of a project team responsible for delivering prototypes, creating FPGA prototypes for enablement and validation, and working collaboratively with other teams in Arm. Responsibilities include estimating and owning tasks, delivering against plans, and focusing on engineering efficiency and quality.

Responsibilities:
  • Modifying RTL from sophisticated systems to target FPGA prototyping platforms.
  • Collaborating to deliver according to structured plans.
  • Mentoring junior engineers.
  • Liaising with development teams to understand requirements and guide design decisions.
  • Estimating technical work for project planning.
  • Owning tasks, tracking progress, managing risks, and reporting status.
  • Commissioning FPGA hardware and specifying peripherals.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Proven FPGA engineering experience with strong technical skills.
  • Knowledge of FPGA design flow: RTL design, simulation, synthesis, place & route, constraints, timing closure.
  • Strong RTL skills in Verilog / SystemVerilog or VHDL, with source control experience.
  • Scripting skills in Python, basic C/C++.
  • Experience debugging designs in simulation and hardware.
  • Creative problem-solving and excellent communication skills, including documentation.
Nice to Have Skills and Experience:
  • Understanding of ASIC/SoC FPGA prototyping.
  • Experience with Xilinx UltraScale+ devices and tools.
  • Knowledge of FPGA peripherals like DDR, PCIe, high-speed interfaces.
  • Programming in assembly (Arm assembler), higher-level languages, object-oriented programming, UNIX shell scripting.
  • Version control with GIT/GERRIT.
  • Knowledge of Arm IP and the AMBA standard.
In Return:

Expand your expertise, face new challenges, and work with advancing technologies alongside top engineering teams across various disciplines.
