Job summary

Dawsongroup is seeking a Senior Fleet Manager in Brighouse, West Yorkshire, to lead the performance, safety and commercial management of approx. 1,800 HGVs across municipal and environmental fleets. You’ll own fleet availability, drive replacement programmes, and ensure compliance with DVSA, FORS and operator licences.

You’ll lead the Fleet Team and drivers, turning data into improvements in reliability, utilisation and availability, while balancing whole-life costs with operational needs.

Qualifications

• Experience leading substantial commercial vehicle fleets.
• Strong knowledge of roadworthiness, maintenance planning, defect management and transport legislation.
• Confidence managing budgets, whole-life vehicle costs, supplier performance and commercial decisions.
• Ability to turn fleet data into meaningful improvements in reliability, utilisation and vehicle availability.
• Collaborative leadership style with the confidence to challenge, support and develop people across the business.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of fleet availability, reliability, and operational readiness across multiple locations.
• Lead vehicle replacement programmes, procurement, specifications and disposals.
• Champion roadworthiness, DVSA, FORS and operator licence compliance.
• Manage fleet expenditure, supplier relationships and performance.
• Lead and develop our Fleet Team, Operator Trainers and Delivery Drivers.
