Job summary

Virgin Media O2 is seeking a talented Senior Network Engineer to join our Core Infrastructure Support team in the UK. You will own Fixed Access and Wholesale Access platforms, working hands-on with XGS‑PON, DOCSIS, EVPN and NNIs to keep services performing at peak levels.

You’ll lead major incidents, mentor junior staff and collaborate with Data Centre, Core, Corporate and ISP Systems Support to deliver end-to-end improvements and upgrades across the network.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in supporting carrier/enterprise grade network infrastructure (Juniper, Nokia, Cisco, Commscope).
• Fundamental understanding of ISIS, MPLS, SR MPLS, EVPN, IPv6.
• Deep knowledge of TCP/IP, Routing, Switching and the OSI model.
• Process-oriented troubleshooting and problem-resolution abilities.
• Ability to lead and communicate during major incidents.
• Familiarity with monitoring and OSS tools; interpret telemetry, alarms and trend data.

Responsibilities

• Own Fixed Access and Wholesale Access platforms, solving complex network challenges.
• Provide hands-on support across XGS‑PON, DOCSIS, EVPN and NNIs.
• Lead and mentor junior team members and guide incident response.
• Collaborate with Data Centre, Core, Corporate and ISP Systems Support to deliver end-to-end improvements.
