Job summary

Johnson Controls in Birmingham seeks a Senior Design Engineer to deliver medium-to-high complexity Fire Suppression System projects from design through to successful implementation. You will produce detailed system designs, drawings, calculations, and documentation using AutoCAD, BIM, and related tools, ensuring alignment with client requirements and project standards.

The role includes mentoring junior engineers, collaborating with sales and project teams, and guiding design reviews to maintain

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 6 years’ experience in fire suppression, life safety, or related system design engineering roles.
• Proven experience designing medium-to-high complexity engineered systems.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, BIM, and other design software.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer medium-to-high complexity Fire Suppression System solutions following project award.
• Produce detailed system designs, drawings, calculations, and technical documentation using AutoCAD, BIM, and associated tools.
• Develop hardware designs and software programming solutions that meet project specifications.
• Collaborate with sales teams, project managers, and customers to ensure designs meet operational needs.
• Perform quality reviews and design verification to ensure deliverables meet standards.
• Support project execution teams by providing technical guidance throughout the lifecycle.
• Mentor and support junior engineers in technical development.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design efficiency and quality.
