Job summary

HKA is seeking a highly credible Fire Engineering specialist at Director or Principal Consultant level to join its Forensic Technical Services team in the UK. The role focuses on leading fire engineering analyses for major disputes and guiding expert work across engineering disciplines.

You will collaborate with expert witnesses, advise on UK fire regulations, and contribute to high-stakes cases while mentoring junior staff and developing the FTS practice.

Qualifications

• Degree in Fire Engineering with 10+ years in consultancy.
• Deep knowledge of UK fire regulations, codes and standards.
• Experience supporting expert witnesses and testifying where relevant.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical capability with attention to detail.
• Collaborative, professional approach and initiative to lead.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical analysis on fire engineering issues in complex disputes.
• Collaborate with Expert Witnesses and contribute to reports and joint statements.
• Advise clients on fire safety regulations and engineering judgment.
• Provide peer review to ensure accuracy and consistency of outputs.
• Support multidisciplinary teams and help shape case strategy.
• Develop the Forensic Technical Services practice and mentor colleagues.
