Job summary

HKA is seeking a Senior Engineer in its Forensic Technical Services team to deliver expert commissions and high‑quality technical analysis across building services disputes.

You will work with leading engineers on issues spanning building performance, defects, commissioning and fault analysis, with opportunities to progress towards expert witness work within a market‑leading consultancy.

Qualifications

• Degree in Building Services Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status or progression towards chartership.
• 15+ years in building services consultancy or contracting.
• Strong design, delivery, commissioning, operation or management of MEP systems.
• Experience on multi-sector building projects (industrial, commercial, healthcare, etc.).
• Strong analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.
• Interest in disputes, forensic investigations and expert services.
• Commitment to professional excellence and high-quality outputs.

Responsibilities

• Conducting technical investigations and engineering analysis for construction disputes and failures.
• Reviewing project documentation to identify issues and support conclusions.
• Delivering robust technical outputs and peer-reviewed work.
• Supporting expert witnesses with reports, chronologies and assessments for dispute resolution.
• Participating in site inspections, technical reviews and client meetings.
• Contributing to business development and client engagement efforts.
• Mentoring junior colleagues and guiding project teams.
