Job summary

Irwin & Colton is seeking a Senior Fire Engineer to join a growing risk and compliance consultancy. The role is homebased with travel across the UK and offers a client-facing hybrid work setup within a diversified portfolio of fire projects.

You will deliver fire strategy reports, risk assessments and compliance with fire safety regulations, providing expert consultancy to protect people and property.

Qualifications

• Membership with MIFireE or equivalent fire engineering charter is required.
• Degree in Fire Engineering or Fire Safety (BEng, BSc or MSc) is required.
• Experience producing fire strategy reports and fire consultancy for residential and commercial buildings.
• Strong knowledge of legislation such as ADB, BS9999 and BS9991.
• Willingness to travel across the UK.
• Strong analytical and report writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Produce fire strategy reports and fire safety management plans for new and existing buildings.
• Identify fire risks and develop practical measures to prevent fire and minimise spread, including sprinklers, smoke control, alarms and escape routes.
• Create fire safety designs, calculations, sketches and diagrams, including recommendations for construction and refurbishment materials.
• Conduct site inspections to assess implementation and provide advice, liaising with architects, building control and local authorities as required.
• Support project delivery to time and budget, including resource management, project reviews and applying basic H&S requirements on operational sites.
