Job summary

Hunter Dunning Limited is seeking a Senior Fire Engineer in Manchester to deliver design-led fire strategies within a specialist consultancy. The role is hands-on with leadership responsibilities across projects from concept to delivery, with progression toward chartership and ongoing career development.

You will manage complex projects, develop fire models and reports, and collaborate with clients, architects and authorities to ensure compliant outcomes in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Degree in Fire Engineering or related discipline.
• Senior experience in a fire engineering consultancy.
• CEng or working towards chartership.
• Strong UK project delivery experience.
• Confident client-facing communication.
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Lead fire engineering projects from design through to completion.
• Develop fire strategies, technical reports, sketches, and calculations.
• Carry out fire dynamics and structural fire assessments.
• Undertake smoke and evacuation modelling.
• Perform hand calculations, zone modelling, and CFD simulations.
• Review building designs for fire compliance.
• Develop fire-engineered solutions with the wider design team.
• Apply UK fire regulations and guidance across multiple sectors.
• Work with clients, architects, and statutory authorities.
• Lead meetings and agree compliant design outcomes.
• Mentor junior engineers and support their technical development.
• Support the strategic growth of the fire engineering team.
