Job summary

HP4 Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Team Leader to join a well-established fire and life safety company covering Birmingham and surrounding areas. You will lead by example, support engineers and ensure high standards across commercial sites.

The role combines hands-on maintenance with team coordination, on-call duties, and compliance with BS 5839. A full UK driving licence and relevant experience are essential, with training provided.

Qualifications

• Experience as Fire Alarm Engineer or Senior Fire Alarm Engineer.
• Proven team leadership within the fire alarm industry.
• Strong fault-finding, servicing and diagnostic knowledge of fire alarm systems.
• Experience with multiple manufacturers' systems.
• Willingness to undertake further training and development.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out servicing, maintenance, fault-finding and repairs on fire alarm systems.
• Leading and supporting a team of engineers across commercial sites.
• Coordinating workloads and ensuring efficient job completion.
• Diagnosing complex faults and providing effective remedial solutions.
• Ensuring works comply with BS 5839 and current regulations.
• Completing service reports and maintaining accurate documentation.
• Mentoring engineers and supporting their technical development.

Fire Alarm Team Leader - Birmingham - £42,000-£44,000 + Overtime

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Fire Alarm Team Leader to join a well-established and growing fire and life safety company covering Birmingham and the surrounding areas. Due to continued expansion and increased customer demand, our client is looking to strengthen their engineering team with someone who can lead by example, support other engineers and maintain high standards across commercial sites.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Fire Alarm Engineer looking to take the next step into a leadership role, combining hands-on technical work with team support and coordination.

Role & Responsibilities

• Carrying out servicing, maintenance, fault-finding and repairs on fire alarm systems
• Working on addressable, conventional and GENT fire alarm systems, with training provided where required
• Leading and supporting a team of fire alarm engineers across commercial sites
• Coordinating workloads and helping ensure jobs are completed efficiently
• Diagnosing complex faults and providing effective remedial solutions
• Ensuring all works are completed in line with BS 5839 and current regulations
• Acting as a key point of contact for customers and internal teams
• Completing service reports and ensuring documentation is accurate and up to date
• Mentoring engineers and supporting their technical development
• Maintaining high standards of workmanship, health and safety and compliance

Skills & Experience Required

• Full UK driving licence (essential)
• Proven experience as a Fire Alarm Engineer or Senior Fire Alarm Engineer
• Previous team leadership or supervisory experience within the fire alarm industry
• Strong fault-finding, servicing and diagnostic knowledge of fire alarm systems
• Experience working with multiple manufacturers' systems
• Good organisational and communication skills
• Ability to lead by example while remaining hands-on technically
• Willingness to undertake further training and development
• Relevant certifications such as IPAF, CSCS/ECS, FIA or City & Guilds (desirable)
• Professional attitude, strong work ethic and self-motivation
