Job summary

Simmons & Simmons is seeking a mid‑level associate to join its market‑leading Financial Services Regulatory team in London. You will act as a primary adviser to buy‑side clients, taking ownership of client relationships, instructions and BD from an early stage.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years' PQE in financial services regulatory law at a leading City or international law firm.
• Strong knowledge of MiFID2/MiFIR, UCITS, and AIFMD.
• Solid understanding of FCA Consumer Duty and its implications for buy‑side firms.
• Experience advising hedge funds, institutional asset managers, or other alternative investment fund managers.

Responsibilities

• Advise hedge fund managers and asset managers on UK/EU regulatory requirements.
• Provide guidance on MiFID2/MiFIR compliance and conduct rules.
• Counsel on UCITS regulatory matters and AIFMD obligations.
• Support clients with FCA authorisation and the SMCR.
• Develop client relationships and contribute to business development.
• Collaborate with transactional teams on cross-border mandates.
