Job summary

The University of Manchester is seeking a motivated Financial Controller to lead financial control, statutory reporting and technical accounting across the university and subsidiaries. You will ensure accurate financial information, robust controls and high-quality statements.

Working with Finance and university stakeholders, you will oversee audits, consolidate accounts, and develop teams to deliver timely regulatory returns while supporting strategic decision-making in a dynamic, inclusive

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level.
• A recognised professional accountancy qualification.
• Expert knowledge of statutory financial reporting and consolidation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and continuously improve the financial control framework across the University and subsidiaries.
• Oversee the integrity of accounting ledgers and balance sheet with high-quality reconciliations.
• Deliver annual consolidated financial statements and complex disclosures with applicable standards and statutory requirements.
• Lead relationships with internal and external auditors for non-research matters and coordinate audit planning.
• Lead and develop the financial control, capital finance, subsidiary and central accounts teams to high performance.
