An experienced Group Financial Controller is sought to lead the delivery of accurate, timely and insightful financial reporting across a complex, multi-entity organisation. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will take ownership of the group's financial control environment, ensuring robust processes, effective governance and compliance with relevant accounting standards and statutory requirements. You will oversee the monthly, quarterly and annual consolidation process, manage group reporting packs, and provide clear analysis of financial performance, cash flow and balance sheet movements.
Your responsibilities will include managing the year-end audit and relationship with external auditors, coordinating the preparation of statutory accounts, and ensuring all entities meet their reporting deadlines. You will review and improve accounting policies, controls and procedures, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce risk and strengthen financial governance. The role will also involve overseeing technical accounting matters, monitoring cash and working capital, supporting budgeting and forecasting cycles, and providing reliable financial information to assist senior stakeholders with strategic decision-making.
You will be a qualified accountant with substantial post-qualification experience gained in a group, multi-site or similarly complex environment. A strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP and/or IFRS, consolidation accounting and statutory reporting is essential, alongside proven experience of leading audits and managing financial control frameworks. You should be confident working with finance systems and advanced Excel, with the ability to interpret detailed information and communicate key findings clearly to both finance and non-finance audiences. The successful candidate will be an organised, commercially minded and hands-on leader who can build effective relationships, develop high-performing teams and drive continuous improvement while maintaining accuracy and integrity.
