A Senior Financial Accountant is required for a pivotal role within an esteemed firm in the professional services sector. The role is based in Birmingham and will involve overseeing the financial accounting operations of the department.

Description

• Financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards
• Supporting the Head of Financial Reporting in delivering the team's reporting requirements, including half-year and annual financial statements and monthly Group consolidation
• Supporting the external (and internal) audit process
• Managing month-end responsibilities, including nominal journals, reconciliation of balance sheet and intercompany accounts, and production of P&L and balance sheet with GAP and budget variance analysis
• Assisting with the preparation and submission of Group VAT and Corporation Tax returns, maintaining group arrangements, and acting as a point of contact for external advisers
• Conducting detailed nominal transaction reviews
• Preparing ad-hoc reports for stakeholders
• Continuously reviewing processes to ensure compliance and efficiency

Profile

• ACA, CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification with at least 2-3 years of post-qualification experience
• Experience in a top 20 accountancy practice or professional services environment is highly desirable
• Up-to-date technical knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP
• Effective communication and engagement skills across all organizational levels
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams effectively in a deadline-driven environment
