Job description

Job Introduction

The Senior Finance Manager for Aggregates & Asphalt will manage the provision of regional financial information and reports as part of the regional finance team.

It's a varied role where you will play a key part in the delivery of financial performance through business partnering with regional teams. This includes leading on the completeness of month-end results reporting, including the business planning cycle, annual budgets, and monthly forecasts. You will support the Head of Finance by providing financial advice, insight, support, and challenge to improve overall business performance.

Main Responsibilities

  • Playing a key role, working closely with the senior management team as a business partner, providing critical support in decision-making processes including tactical planning and decisions, acting with integrity.
  • Leading and driving value chain analysis alongside contract margin reviews for a complete end-to-end understanding of customer profitability.
  • Leading the provision of accurate, timely, and SOx-compliant accounting information to support the regional team, ensuring controls and governance are adhered to and in compliance with company policies.
  • Ensuring robust and accurate forecasts and budgets through review and challenge, presenting financial performance, full-year forecasts, and budget variances, including risks and opportunities.
  • Supporting CAPEX schedules, including capital expenditure authorizations, project evaluations, and forecasts.
  • Working closely with the business and other finance colleagues to ensure clarity and understanding of business performance and consistent application of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Providing effective support to the A&A Commercial and Operations Directors as well as the broader regional senior management team.
  • Building partnerships and lasting relationships with all senior managers and their teams, providing financial support for decision-making.
  • Mentoring, coaching, and developing assistant finance managers.

The Ideal Candidate for Senior Finance Manager

We are seeking a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with experience in operations. The candidate should be able to partner with the business, providing sound strategic financial advice on performance improvement. Key skills and behaviors include:

  • Exceptional communication skills, able to work with people at all levels across the business.
  • A collaborative approach, building strong relationships.
  • First-class finance skills, ideally in manufacturing, engineering, or construction environments, or industries producing and manufacturing products.
  • An appetite to learn, explore, and develop new ways of working using new technologies to automate processes and add value.
  • The ability to present, influence, and persuade.
