Fractional Finance Director – 1 to 2 days per week - Housebuilding Business

Remote working – Ongoing assignment – Growing housebuilder with 200 units on site

Are you a Financial Controller / Finance Director with housebuilding experience? Are you building your fractional or portfolio business?

We Do Group are partnering with a growing housebuilder to recruit a number 1 in Finance who can bring both technical expertise and commercial acumen to a pivotal leadership role. This is a rare opportunity to shape the financial strategy of a growing housing company with a single, closely involved shareholder. You’ll be the go-to expert on all things finance—from leading the day-to-day numbers to advising the Board and Officers on funding, risk, and long-term planning. This is not a role for someone who wants to sit back—it’s hands-on, high-impact, and demands someone who’s confident rolling up their sleeves while still thinking big picture.

You’ll lead financial operations, deliver cashflow models that influence strategic decisions, and be the key financial voice in conversations with the shareholder. There’s a strong focus on transparency, governance, and collaboration, with the chance to influence housing development projects and long-term investment plans. If you’re a qualified accountant with a sharp eye for risk, a strategic mindset, and the communication skills to work closely with stakeholders at every level, this could be worth a conversation.

** Please note - this is a Fractional role 1 to 2 days per week! **

THE ROLE

Strategic

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations including budgeting, financial reporting and treasury management
  • Act as the main contact for the housing company and it’s Shareholder on all financial matters and ensure transparency and open communication with the Shareholder regarding the company's financial performance
  • Advise the Board and Officers on all financial matters, including appraisals, funding options and risk management
  • Prepare and present timely and accurate financial reports to the Board, Officers and the Shareholder to include monthly management accounts, annual financial statements and regular cashflow forecasting
  • Work closely with the Shareholder to align financial strategies with their overall objectives for the district
  • Provide financial input to support the development, implementation and long term monitoring of the Company’s Business Plan
  • Review with the Development team, financial Development Appraisals of new housing development schemes and present to the Management Team the outcomes of those Appraisals

Operational

  • Develop and update cashflow models for short, medium, and long-term financial planning
  • As required, complete financial transactions such as recording payments and invoices, paying bills and processing payroll
  • Provide insightful commentary on cashflow projections and variances.
  • Utilise cash flow modelling to evaluate investment opportunities and support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements and;
  • Review, develop and implement financial policies and procedures
  • Provide financial audit information and coordination with internal and external auditors
  • Identify and evaluate potential financial risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • VAT Compliance
  • Corporation Tax planning and compliance
  • Collaborating with other departments on financial matters as required

YOUR PROFILE

  • Good working knowledge of MS Excel
  • Strong housebuilding experience
  • Available for 1-2 days per week Fractional
