Job summary

Placr Recruitment is seeking a Finance Manager for a permanent role in Lower Dicker, East Sussex. You will assume ownership of management reporting, forecasting and financial control within a manufacturing environment, reporting to the Financial Controller.

This role offers an opportunity to move from practice to industry, taking responsibility for management accounts, budgeting, group consolidation and board-level reporting in a well-established manufacturing business.

Qualifications

• ACCA/CIMA or equivalent qualification is required.
• At least one year of post-qualification experience is required.
• Strong management-accounting and financial-reporting experience is essential.
• Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, SUMIF, INDEX and graphs are necessary.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are essential.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines are required.
• A confident communicator who can explain financial information clearly is needed.
• A proactive approach to work is desired.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts through to completion.
• Produce quarterly forecasts and the annual budget.
• Maintain balance-sheet control across inventory, obsolescence, treasury, fixed assets, debtors and creditors.
• Oversee cashbook, purchase ledger and sales ledger.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns and other tax-related information.
• Support corporation tax and payroll-related reporting.
• Produce monthly board reports and financial presentation slides.
• Explain trading performance against budget and prior year.
• Analyse financial results and investigate variances.
• Maintain multi-currency group consolidation across four companies.
• Prepare year-end audit file and support external auditors.
• Assist with monthly payroll using Sage 50.

Finance Manager

Lower Dicker, East Sussex | Full-time | Permanent | Salary dependent on experience

Are you a qualified accountant looking to take greater ownership of management reporting, forecasting and financial control?

Our client is looking for a commercially minded Finance Manager to join its finance team in Lower Dicker. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for producing accurate and timely management information while maintaining control across the balance sheet and supporting senior-level financial decision‑making.

This could be an excellent next move for someone currently working in an accountancy practice who would like to move into industry, or an established Finance Manager seeking a varied role within a manufacturing environment.

What You'll Be Doing

• Preparing monthly management accounts through to completion
• Producing quarterly forecasts and the annual budget
• Maintaining balance-sheet control across inventory, obsolescence, treasury, fixed assets, debtors and creditors
• Overseeing the cashbook, purchase ledger and sales ledger
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns, duties and other tax‑related information
• Supporting corporation‑tax and payroll‑related reporting
• Producing monthly board reports and financial presentation slides
• Explaining current trading performance against budget and the previous year
• Analysing key financial results and investigating variances
• Maintaining multi‑currency group consolidation across four companies
• Preparing the year‑end audit file and supporting external auditors
• Assisting with the monthly payroll using Sage 50
• Supporting monthly pension administration, including Aviva salary sacrifice
• Completing financial projects as directed by the Financial Controller
• Providing broader support to the Financial Controller when required

What We're Looking For

• ACCA, CIMA or equivalent professional accounting qualification
• At least one year of post‑qualification experience
• Strong management‑accounting and financial‑reporting experience
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, SUMIF, INDEX functions and graphs
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately to deadlines
• A confident communicator who can explain financial information clearly
• A motivated and proactive approach to your work

It Would Be an Advantage If You Have

• Experience working within a manufacturing environment
• Previous experience using Microsoft Dynamics AX
• Sage Payroll or Sage HR experience
• Experience with multi‑company or multi‑currency group consolidation
• An accountancy‑practice background with a desire to move into industry
