Job summary

TPA Recruit is supporting an established manufacturing business in East Sussex to appoint a Senior Finance Manager. This broad, hands-on role covers management reporting, financial control, forecasting, budgeting and group reporting, working closely with the Financial Controller.

You will be a qualified accountant taking ownership across the finance function, with responsibilities including tax compliance, year-end audits, and providing financial analysis to support decisions.

Qualifications

• ACCA, CIMA qualified or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year of post-qualification experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced Excel capabilities (PivotTables, SUMIF/SUMIFS, INDEX/MATCH).
• Confident communicator with ability to explain financial information clearly.
• Highly motivated, well-organised and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts.
• Draft quarterly forecasts and assist annual budgeting.
• Maintain strong balance sheet controls, including inventory and treasury.
• Oversee cashbook, purchase ledger and sales ledger activities.
• Prepare and submit VAT, duties, payroll-related taxes and corporation tax.
• Support board-level financial reporting and presentations.
• Provide analysis of results, trends and variances against budget.
• Maintain group consolidation reporting across multiple entities/currencies.
• Prepare monthly financial information for senior management.
• Coordinate year-end audit file and support audits.
• Provide finance support on projects as required by the Financial Controller.
• Support payroll and pension administration.

TPA Recruit is supporting a successful and growing advanced manufacturing business in the appointment of a Senior Finance Manager.

About the Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Finance Manager to join a successful and established business based in East Sussex.

This is a broad, hands-on finance role offering responsibility across management reporting, financial control, forecasting, budgeting, tax compliance and group reporting. Working closely with the Financial Controller and wider business, you will play an important role in ensuring accurate financial information is produced and used effectively to support business decisions.

The role would suit a qualified accountant who enjoys a varied position and is looking to take ownership of a broad range of finance responsibilities within an industry environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts through to completion.
• Prepare quarterly forecasts and contribute to the annual budgeting process.
• Maintain strong financial control across the balance sheet, including inventory, obsolescence, treasury, fixed assets, debtors and creditors.
• Oversee cashbook, purchase ledger and sales ledger activities.
• Prepare and submit relevant tax returns and calculations, including VAT, duties, payroll-related taxes and corporation tax.
• Support the preparation of board-level financial reporting and presentations.
• Provide clear analysis of financial results, trends and variances against budget and prior-year performance.
• Maintain group consolidation reporting across multiple companies and currencies.
• Prepare monthly financial information and reporting for senior management.
• Coordinate the year-end audit file and support the annual audit process.
• Provide financial support and analysis on projects as required by the Financial Controller.
• Provide day-to-day support to the Financial Controller across the wider finance function.
• Support monthly payroll and pension administration.

About You

We are looking for a technically capable and commercially aware finance professional who can work confidently across a broad range of accounting responsibilities.

Essential:

• ACCA, CIMA qualified or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of post-qualification experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced Excel capability, including PivotTables, SUMIF/SUMIFS, INDEX/MATCH or similar lookup functions, error handling and financial reporting.
• Confident communicator with the ability to explain financial information clearly to colleagues and senior stakeholders.
• Highly motivated, organised and able to work independently.

Desirable:

• Experience with Sage Payroll and Sage HR.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX or a similar ERP system.
• Previous experience working within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Experience of group consolidation and multi-currency reporting.
