Job description

My Local Government client, based in the South East, is looking for a Senior Finance Business Partner to join the team on a permanent basis. Reporting into the CFO, you will be responsible for providing a financial and management accountancy service, including budget preparation, final accounts, statutory reports and returns, and financial planning and grant claims.

You will be a key member of the Senior Finance Management team, responsible for managing the finance business partnering team and ensuring plans and strategies are developed and delivered.

Day to day, your role will include:

1. Leading the finance business partnering team in producing timely monthly management accounts for reporting to senior managers.
2. Reporting on the Council's financial position to Council meetings, identifying key variations and issues, and making recommendations for action.
3. Monitoring reports to present the current situation, causes, trends, and projected outturns to manage budgets and finances effectively.
4. Providing financial advice and guidance to budget managers to manage their budgets, ensuring responsibility is delegated effectively and managers have appropriate monitoring techniques and tools.
5. Ensuring effective Treasury management, insurance, cash management, car loans, and payment arrangements are in place, along with maintaining effective internal controls.

To be considered for this role, you need to be CCAB qualified with circa 3 years post-qualification experience. Local government finance experience, including preparation of final accounts, budget preparation and monitoring, and staff management, is essential.
