Your new company
Hays Accountancy & Finance is delighted to partner with a leading top 40 international law firm seeking an experienced Senior Finance Assistant. The ideal candidate will understand the Solicitors Regulation Authority Accounts Rules and will play a key role supporting the wider finance team. The role requires previous legal cashiering experience and broader finance knowledge, including inter-account transfers, advising fee earners on correct accounting procedures, conducting extensive reconciliations, assisting with purchase ledger, and month-end close.
Your new role
Your duties include working closely with the finance team to process client and office account transactions in compliance with SRA regulations, conducting inter-account transfers, assisting with purchase ledger invoices and payments, liaising with external clients regarding the firm's credit card line, and supporting month-end procedures. You will also guide fee earners and assistants on accounting procedures, provide financial support for client work, perform bank reconciliations, and handle queries from clients, banks, and other institutions.
As an experienced senior finance clerk / legal cashier, you will contribute to improving efficiency through technology or process changes, support the implementation of new systems, build relationships with fee earners and assistants, and collaborate on billing, credit control, and working capital management.
What you'll need to succeed
Proven experience as a legal cashier, a solid educational background, and active pursuit of an accounting qualification (AAT or ILFM Dip) are preferred. Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills, excellent attention to detail, and exceptional communication skills are essential, along with confidence to interact at all levels.
What you'll get in return
