Job summary

Cotswold Archaeology is seeking a Principal Fieldwork Manager to lead the Milton Keynes office fieldwork team, responsible for budgets, resources and logistics across a diverse portfolio of projects. The role combines office-based work with site visits and requires a full UK driving licence and MCIfA membership or equivalent.

You will manage fieldwork delivery, QA of archives and reports, and contribute to tenders while ensuring health and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Qualified archaeologist with degree in archaeology or related subject.
• MCIfA membership or demonstrable equivalence.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel including overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Report to Head of Fieldwork on performance and quality of outputs.
• Manage overall performance of the Milton Keynes office fieldwork team.
• Oversee fieldwork programme deployment and resource allocation.
• Ensure QA of archives and client reports.
• Prepare and review fieldwork tenders for the region and assist major tenders.
• Manage budgets to keep costs within approved limits.
