Job summary

A leading recruiting agency is seeking a Senior Field Service Engineer to lead and perform maintenance, installation, and commissioning of electrical systems across critical environments in the UK. The role requires 5+ years of experience in electrical maintenance, strong leadership skills, and the ability to troubleshoot issues efficiently. With full responsibility for service delivery, the engineer will also have the opportunity to occasionally support projects in Europe. A full UK driving license is necessary, and proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.

Senior Field Service Engineer - UK

Travel: field-based, UK travel plus some European trips.
Employment Type: Full-time, permanent

What You'll Be Doing
  • Lead and perform maintenance, installation, and commissioning of electrical systems in critical environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues to minimise downtime.
  • Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and clients to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Conduct site surveys, training sessions, load bank testing, and system acceptance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and support root cause analysis for continuous improvement.
  • Promote safety, compliance, and operational excellence across all activities.
What You'll Bring
  • Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 5+ years' experience in electrical maintenance within critical facilities or data centres.
  • Strong background in DC electrical systems, including UPS systems, batteries, generators, switchgear, and power distribution.
  • Proven leadership and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with health & safety standards and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Ability to work independently and respond effectively under pressure.
Scope & Coverage
  • UK: Full responsibility for service delivery and system performance, with frequent work in Slough.
  • Europe: Occasional support and leadership on select projects.
Tech & Tools
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial tools (e.g., XERO).
Other Requirements
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Fluent in English (additional languages are a plus).
