Vasto Legal Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Senior Associate in Family Law in West Sussex. The role offers a genuine path toward heading the department, with a supportive culture and flexible working arrangements.

The private family workload includes divorce, financial remedy and children matters. You will run your own caseload, mentor junior team members, and contribute to growing the department and client base. Salary ranges £60,000–£70,000 DOE with benefits.

Senior Associate, Family (5+ PQE) | West Sussex

A well-established firm with four offices across West Sussex is looking for a senior family lawyer to join its private family team. The firm is growing and has a new office project under way. This role is a genuine step towards leadership, with a clear route to heading the department for the right person.

The firm and team

You will join a close-knit team of two fee earners and two paralegals, led by a partner with over 35 years’ experience in family law. You will work closely with the partner, and the expectation is that you will become a senior voice in the team and help shape its future as the firm expands. The firm has a supportive, non-toxic culture where senior lawyers are trusted to run their own practice without being micromanaged, and it backs its people with good technology. The team is committed to non-confrontational practice and is involved with Resolution.

The role

This is a private family role with no legal aid, and the work is split fairly evenly between divorce, financial remedy and children matters. You will run your own caseload of complex matters, including high net worth financial cases involving businesses, pensions and overseas assets. You will also advise on child arrangements, grandparents’ rights, and prenuptial, cohabitation and separation agreements.

You will act as a senior point of contact for clients and support the development of the paralegals in the team. You will also play a part in building the department’s profile and client base locally, which positions you to take on leadership of the team over time.
